Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is a medicine used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It provides better control of blood sugar when single therapy is not effective and reduces both fasting and post meal sugar levels.
Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet should be used along with a proper diet and exercise for maximum effect. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while taking this medicine as it may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) as a side effect.

HOW TO USE KOMBIGLYZE TABLET ER
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

HOW KOMBIGLYZE TABLET ER WORKS
Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Saxagliptin and Metformin. Saxagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor which works by increasing the release of insulin from pancreas and decreasing the hormones that raise blood sugar levels. This reduces both fasting and postmeal sugar levels. Metformin is an anti-diabetic medication (biguanide). It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
Pregnancy
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Lactation
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving
CAUTION
Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Kombiglyze XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.

Liver
