GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet is a medicine used in management of angina (heart-related chest pain) caused due to narrowing of blood vessels of the heart. It is only useful in preventing an episode of angina and does not work well once the chest pain has already started. This medicine should be used along with lifestyle changes like healthy diet, regular exercise, and smoking cessation for best results. It must be taken strictly as per the dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor. It should not be stopped abruptly. It may cause dizziness and headache as side effects initially, which improve with time.

HOW TO USE GTN SORBITRATE TABLET CR
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
HOW GTN SORBITRATE TABLET CR WORKS
GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet is a nitrate. It works by relaxing the blood vessels which decreases the oxygen demand of the heart and reduces its workload. It thus prevents/treats attacks of angina (chest pain).

Alcohol
CAUTION
GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions).

Pregnancy

GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation
GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Driving
GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.

Kidney
GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver
There is limited information available on the use of GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.
WHAT IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF GTN SORBITRATE TABLET CR?
If you miss a dose of GTN Sorbitrate CR 2.6 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
